Discover: Esports welcomed more than 120 brands, businesses and individuals in Newcastle for two days of esports industry learning

Last week on November 29-30, the inaugural Discover: Esports conference kicked into high gear welcoming attendees to Newcastle upon Tyne for a new kind of event designed to connect leading esports figures with brands, businesses and individuals who want to learn more about the potential of the growing esports industry and the business opportunities it offers.

Across two days, we saw an impressive focus on high-quality content with expert speakers from leading companies and organisations like ESL, ESI, Alpine F1 Racing, FNATIC, Into The Breach and many more offering insight into how brands can get involved in the space in an authentic manner. And authenticity really is the name of the game as noted by many speakers throughout the event with the key takeaway being that if you want to be successful in esports, then creating value for the consumer is essential.

Discover: Esports created a safe space where people of all experience levels could come together and learn more about the industry. Alongside the informative talks there were engaging and fun quickfire quiz sessions which aimed to lift the veil on common esports terminology and jargon. One really important aspect of the event was the feeling that all questions are valid – this was helped along by the super interactive Q&A during talks and panels which saw a throwable microphone passed around the room to include the full audience.

Discover: Esports Co-founder and Event Director Sally Kevan was overwhelmed by the positive feedback and support: “Discover: Esports was a little dream that became a reality starting as a conversation back in 2021 about wanting to create and run my own event having done so for clients for over 20 years”.

She continued: “I love the games industry and esports has been a big part of that journey for me, but I wanted to know more. Esports is a growing and exciting industry, but for many it’s still a very unknown sector. The aim of Discover: Esports was to introduce other industries and individuals to the space in a friendly and inviting space. This first iteration was a brilliant success with so much positive feedback and many connections made. Being able to say hello to people in person is still such a wonderful thing and we can’t wait to start working on the next one… stay tuned!”.

We want to say a massive thank you to our wonderful sponsors and expert speakers who took the time to join us in the toon – this event would not have been possible without you! And finally a special thank you to everyone who attended, supported and made the event just a brilliant experience all round.

We’ve got big plans so be sure to keep an eye on our socials for future updates. You can also sign up here to receive updates direct to your inbox.

Wishing you all a very happy holiday season and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Best wishes
